SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Member of the Operations Team, the Licensed Plumber reports to the Plumbing Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ability to repair, test, and maintain commercial plumbing fixtures, appliances, appurtenances, and piping systems including backflow prevention devices
- Ability to maintain plumbing drainage, waste, and vent systems including cleaning of stoppages in drain piping systems
- Plan, organize, design, and install commercial/industrial building drainage, waste, and vent (DWV) piping, potable water supply, storm drainage, and plumbing fixtures during construction/renovation projects
- Ability to weld steel gas piping, steam supply, condensate piping, domestic hot water storage tanks, steel fencing, and other work as directed/ (Preferred)
- Possess the ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and layout, plan, and organize own work with minimal supervision.
- Organize, design, and plan plumbing/mechanical fabrications, repairs, and renovations as assigned
- Ability to keep accurate work records
- Available for off-hour emergency calls as needed 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
- Interact with co-workers, other departments, administration, students, parents and the community in a positive, supportive and cooperative way
- Must furnish all small hand tools for trade
- Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must be willing to improve one’s self in all aspects of this classification either by schooling or by assistance from fellow workers
- Possess a good driving record and the ability to travel the district in a timely and efficient manner
- Demonstrated good attendance, punctuality, accountability, and performance
- Demonstrated ability to participate as a member of a team
- Must possess State of Michigan Journeyman or Master Plumber License
- Preferred: State of Michigan Certified to test and repair backflow prevention devices

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment), work in confined spaces and work from scaffolding and ladders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Must be able to work outside for extended periods (up to the entire eight (8) hour shift in varying types of weather conditions.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually loud to moderate. Work is performed indoors although there will be required outdoor activities.
MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to compare, analyze, communicate both orally and in writing, copy, coordinate, instruct, compute, synthesize, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, compile and negotiate.
