HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT MISSION

JOB SUMMARY
Plan, organize, administer, and collect/review data for all employee performance evaluation processes. The goal of this position is to make significant contributions to improving equity in the education for scholars by leading the evaluation initiatives in the district. This position reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Ensure all district staff are evaluated consistent with law, relevant union collective bargaining agreements, and/or Board of Education Policy
- Ensure all staff evaluations are saved in personnel files
- Collaborate with the professional learning and development team to operationalize strategic direction to ensure the development of teacher, staff, and instructional administrators based on evaluation data
- Collaborate with the teaching and learning team to assist with the development and implementation of individual development plans as necessary and/or required by law
- Keep abreast of legal updates to all relevant laws concerning evaluations
- Annually review evaluation programs, documents, and other mechanisms for evaluating staff to ensure all evaluation tools are up-to-date, research-based, and consistent with relevant laws
- Provide district-wide training regarding staff evaluations
- Maintain comprehensive filling system to ensure all evaluations are stored consistent with Michigan Record Retention laws
- Establish strong working relationships with schools, district staff, and union leadership
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging evaluation theories and strategies
- Ensure the design and use of quantitative and qualitative data analysis in the planning and evaluation of all evaluation programs, documents, and other third-party resources

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in administration, teaching, education, human resources, or related field.
- Two years of leadership as a building principal or central office administrator
- Three years of teaching experience
Preferred Experience:
- Experience interpreting labor contracts
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated professional and personal expertise in best practices and research in school leadership
- Knowledge or experience with Danielson or other research-based teaching and learning performance
- Knowledge or experience with the school Advance or other research-based school leadership performance rubric
- Knowledge of the education law and regulations
- Demonstrated leadership skills in effective problem solving, human relations, interpersonal communication skills, fiscal responsibility, and bringing staff, scholars, and community together to achieve a shared mission
- Demonstrated administrative ability and experience in collaborative skills and attitudes to work with others in teams, effective interpersonal communication skills, creativity, optimism, problem solving and flexibility
- Demonstrated administrative ability and experience as a change agent including awareness, flexibility and adaptability
- Demonstrated use of technology to include email, internet, Microsoft office suite, and the ability to learn and utilize District standard software products
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work and supervise staff in a fast-paced team environment
- Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals in a wide range of positions within the district as well as in organizations external to the district
- Demonstrated ability to manage and effectively prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively under pressure
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals to problem-solve, communicate solutions, and apply corrective actions
