JOB SUMMARY

As part of the Nutrition Services Team, the position serves as a liaison between the school Meal software vendor and the department staff to ensure proper utilization of the software. This person provides general maintenance, repairs, and basic operational support for the department’s personal computers, printers, and peripheral devices. This person will use teamwork and initiative regarding the normal job responsibilities. This person will also perform specific high-priority network support tasks.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate and assist in preparing test data, problem solving and testing of software including new releases, enhancements, changes in processes and contract negotiations.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting personal computer hardware, peripherals and software and perform repairs to this equipment throughout the department, including bar code scanners and wireless network components.
  • Provide ongoing training to GRPS Nutrition Center staff regarding new processes and implementation of new software phases.
  • Participate in necessary training and attend seminars relating to software or program enhancements.
  • Recommend software modifications as necessary.
  • Develop reports for use by GRPS staff.
  • Write, and update necessary procedure manuals, including software documentation for end users.
  • Trouble shoot personal computer hardware, peripherals, software and direct the repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Provide task progress and completion date, prepared in a professional manner, to supervisor and the helpdesk personnel as required.
  • Responsible for maintaining high level of technical knowledge and expertise through continual education process, formal and self- taught.
  • Responsible for the preparation and timely issuance of monthly financial information and reports on behalf of the Nutrition Services Program.
  • Responsible for working with the Nutrition Services Administration team to generate and compile monthly and yearly budgetary information as required by the MDE & USDA.
  • Provide research and recommendations for software/hardware upgrades in conjunction with district standards and guidelines.
  • Work in tandem with the District MIS, IS, Business office, and MDE.
  • Responsible for maintaining all MDE applications necessary for the operation of Nutrition Services.
  • Responsible for maintaining CEP data and counts necessary for operation.
  • Interact with co-workers, administration, students, parents, and the community in a positive professional fashion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in computer science or a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated strong computer science/technical background.
  • Proven experience with a computer conversion.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in implementing change.
  • Demonstrated excellent experience in the use of personal computers including spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient accounting & computational skills.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and provide training.
  • Ability to relate well to staff from a diversity of backgrounds and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of people as well as individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Demonstrated ability to research, test and collect information on new ideas/concepts and possess a strong conceptual background in technological issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to make decisions and act independently.
  • Excellent communications skills (oral & written).
  • Ability to work effectively in a self-directed fashion.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear (in a quiet or noisy environment). The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
